In 2009, CLOUSTON Associates and MKE Architects -Darwin, contracted SCRIBBLETANK to assist in this design and development project for the Northern Territory Tourism Commission.
At key points along the Tourist Highway, sites were selected for cultural and geographical significance. Each marker is unique in its layout, assembly of fins and laser cut motifs: eachdesigned to reflect the individual location.
The signs mark popular sightseeing points, others combine their directional purpose with wayfinding at intersections and all house facilitiy for interprative information to be displayed.
Marrying symbolism of naturally ocurring landmarks, the hues of the surrounding environment and with strong reference to the industrial aesthetic of the visitors centres at both Uluru and Alice Springs, the suite of signage is being unveiled in stages along the Red Centre Way from July 2010.
